Tech giants to create next-gen video format

A group of major technology companies have formed a partnership with the aim of producing a new royalty-free media format. The Alliance for Open Media will include global giants like Amazon, Google, Microsoft and Intel. The aim? To pool their technology and expertise to produce new media formats that will be compatible across all devices and enable high quality video, audio and streaming.
